Information About Alpine Biome

The weather in the Alpine biome is 54 degrees in the summer on average and below 32 degrees in the winter. The biome is above 10,000 feet. The temperature can change from warm to freezing in one day. There is about 12 inches of rainfall.

Plants that live in the Alpine biome live close to the ground to keep warm and keep from getting wind damage. Trees some trees live in the Alpine biome. Trees that get to big would get blow down from the wind. The oldest tree that lives in the Alpine biome is the Brisllecone Pine. Lichens are important plant in the biome it is food for names in winter. Plants found in the Alpine are snowflower, alpine phacelia and anyother. Plants have to be able to grow in sandy and rocky soils to live in the biome.



Animals that live in the biome have to be able to have thick coats to keep them warm. Some of the animals that live in the biome is the Alpaca, Llama,Chinchilla and the snow goat.



The Alpine biomes are found in the mountains like the Rockies,Cascade, Sierra mountain in North America. The Andes mountains in South America. The Himalayas in Asia. The Alpsond and Pyrenees in Europe. The Rift mountain in Africa.
